AN IDYLLIC retreat has scooped a prestigious national award.
Bromley Palace Park, based at the Civic Centre in Stockwell Close, Bromley, was awarded Green Flag status following a Bromley Council improvement programme.
The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales.
Praise goes out to the Thyme Out project team, which manages the 14-acre park.
Funded by the council and the Big Lottery Fund, the scheme provides free horticultural training for people with learning disabilities.
The council’s executive councillor for renewal and recreation, Councillor Julian Benington, said: “Parks are a crucial part of the urban area and in Bromley we are blessed with all of our town centres being next to green space.”
