A WOMAN with 10 great-grandchildren has celebrated her 105th birthday.
May Pennington was born in 1905 in Northfleet.
She left school at 14 and eventually worked for 20 years in the accounts department of Gulf Oil where she was known by colleagues as the “stock office queen”.
Mrs Pennington, who has been married twice and has a son and stepson, celebrated her birthday with family and fellow residents at the Maryville sheltered housing scheme in Baltimore Place, Welling.
She also received a telegram from the Queen, bunches of flowers, and a visit by Deputy Mayor of Bexley Councillor James Spencer.
Support officer Sylvia Batchelor said: “She had her face made up especially. She had a lovely time, she really did.”
