A COUNCIL has rejected a proposal to include their recreation ground in a town centre’s expansion plans.
Swanley Town Council opposed a landowner’s proposal to include St Mary’s Recreation Ground in St Mary’s Road in plans to expand Swanley town centre’s retail facilities.
Sevenoaks District Council asked Swanley Town Council for their views on the proposal as part of its Local Development Framework for the district.
Leader of Swanley Town Council Ian Rashbrook said: “We are committed to retaining the recreation ground for the benefit of local people which is why we have recently invested substantial sums of money to refurbish and improve the skatepark and why we are proposing a long term agreement allowing Swanley Technology College use of the recreation ground for its sports activities.”
