MEMBERS of the public can have their say on where to make cuts in the police budget to save £20m in the next three years.
Kent Police Authority, which controls the finances of Kent police, is visiting shopping centres across the county this summer to ask people to vote on which service should have its budget cut.
The categories are: emergency response teams; back office civilian staff; back office police officers; neighbourhood policing; 999 call handlers; investigations; and specialist tactical policing units.
Bluewater will host the roadshow on August 13 from 10.30am to 3:30pm, and Authority chairwoman Ann Barnes says shoppers’ views will be considered by its budget committee in February.
She said: “We want to know what the public would do if they were the budget holder.”
