A BMW driver had to be rescued after his car smashed into railings in Dartford last night (July 27).
When firefighters arrived at the scene near the Esso garage in Princes Road at around 8.15pm they saw the man’s vehicle was on the pavement.
The railings had crumpled into the door on the driver’s side and one of his legs was partially trapped.
Using cutting equipment they managed to cut away the metal and free the man, who is believed to be in his 20s, from the vehicle.
He was said to be in pain and was taken to Darent Valley Hospital, Darenth, by ambulance.
The stretch of road near the Blue Star roundabout was completely closed while the emergency services dealt with the incident.
It is not yet known how the car ended up on the pavement.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
