GREEN-FINGERED north Kent residents can get their hands on free trees to plant and care for.
Kent County Council (KCC) is offering nature lovers across the county a chance to each get up to 25 of the 40,000 two to three-year-old trees called ‘whips’, which are typically up to one metre tall.
A KCC spokesman said: “The planting of trees in our local environment improves health and wellbeing long term. By planting 25 trees, up to seven tonnes of CO2 can be absorbed in their lifetime.”
To apply for the trees, which are available on a first come first served basis, download an application form from kent.gov.uk or call 08458 247 600.
