A TEACHER who has retired after 30 years was given a send-off to remember by staff and students at her school.
Sue King was given a fond farewell by High Firs Primary School in Swanley, with her fellow teachers and pupils throwing her a party to say goodbye.
The 59-year-old from Tonbridge Wells, who taught Year 3 students at the school in Court Crescent, plans to move to Hampshire to enjoy her retirement.
She said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at the school, having worked there solidly for 30 years, and will miss everything about it, particularly the fun I have had with all the children.
“But now its time for someone else to be part of the friendly, happy team at the school.”
The farewell party saw students and staff enjoying a picnic and sharing memories of Ms King’s time at the school, and the youngsters presented her with a book they had made to honour her.
She said: “The send-off was lovely. Each class sang a song and the staff did a dance, and they even made a chair for me that was like a throne. I was absolutely thrilled with it all.”
Headteacher Colin Turtle said: “The team are really going to miss Ms King, and the children are certainly going to miss her.
“She has been a very valuable member of the team who has worked with many age groups and very closely with the special needs co-ordinator.”
