TWO burglars who tried to steal a jukebox by bus have been sentenced.
John Ford, aged 45, of Ryefield, Orpington, and Carl Wallington, aged 45, of Chipperfield Road, St Mary Cray, were caught trying to take the jukebox on board an R11 bus.
They had stolen the item from Roman Interiors by smashing a window to the shop in Orpington High Street at around 9.30pm on January 19.
Ford, a floor layer, pleaded guilty at Croydon Crown Court to burglary and was given a 12-month community sentence requiring him to undergo alcohol treatment as well as a three month curfew between 11pm and 7am.
Wallington previously admitted the same charge at Bromley Magistrates’ Court and was given a four-month prison sentence, suspended for one year, and required to do a six-month residential drug treatment programme.
Both men were also ordered to each pay £400 compensation to Roman Interiors.
