A PERVERT has been jailed for sex offences he committed more than a quarter of a century ago.
David Brown, of Codrington Crescent, Gravesend, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court to five years and four months in prison.
He had admitted three offences of indecently assaulting a child under the age of 13.
The 62-year-old former security guard also pleaded guilty to nine counts of making indecent images of children.
Brown had denied another seven counts of indecent assault and eight of making indecent images of children, and these were left on file.
The court heard Kent police searched Brown’s home in August last year and the indecent images were found.
While awaiting sentence for this crime, further investigations showed Brown had committed indecent assaults between 1972 and 1982.
Sentencing Brown, Judge Philip St John-Stevens said the defendant had abused the trust of a child for his own sexual gratification.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Wendy Spain, from north Kent police’s child protection team, said: "The sentence imposed on Brown is a reflection of the appalling acts he exposed the victim to and the effect it has had on her adult life.
“The defendant thought he had got away with it but his victim did not allow that and has showed bravery in helping us seek justice.”
