YOUNGSTERS have exceeded their fundraising target to support troops wounded on the frontline.
Year 9 students at Charles Darwin School, Jail Lane, Biggin Hill, originally set out to raise £3,500 for charity Help for Heroes by the end of the school year.
However following events including a teacher parachute jump, a disco, balloon release and egg and spoon race, the pupils have totted up a grand total of more than £5,100.
For their hard work, the students won the youth category for London in the The Royal British Legion’s Friends of the Forces Awards.
Head of Year 9 Anne Adams said: “Year 9 really have done themselves and Charles Darwin School proud.”
