A SCHOOL has launched a cycling scheme to teach bike safety.

Using funding from Bromley Council’s children and family project Stewart Fleming School has bought 10 bicycles along with safety accessories.

These bikes are being used at the school in Witham Road, Anerley, to improve children’s cycling proficiency and show how to be safe when riding.

The school also plans to allow pupils to use the bikes on a loan basis.

Stewart Fleming head teacher Lee Mason Ellis said: “The scheme has already received a positive response with pupils keen to use the bikes.

“Cycling is a great activity to promote to the children – it is healthy, environmentally friendly, improves confidence and independence and is an extremely cost effective mode of transport.”
