A STABBING victim has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Lenny Kempley.

The 27-year-old suspect and Mr Kempley were both stabbed in Downham Way, Downham, at around 11.50pm on Saturday (July 17).

Mr Kempley, 54, of Edward Tyler Road, Grove Park, was taken to a south London hospital but he died less than an hour later.

A post-mortem examination was held at Greenwich Mortuary on Sunday and the cause of death was given as a stab wound to the heart.

The second man, in his late 20s, was taken to a separate south London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

He was arrested yesterday evening (July 21).

This brings the total number of people arrested as part of the murder investigation to five.

A man in his 30s was also arrested yesterday and remains in custody at a south London police station.

Two 22-year-old men and a woman, whose age is not yet known, were arrested and have been bailed to dates in mid-August pending further enquiries.

An incident room has opened at Lewisham police station under Detective Chief Inspector Mark Dunne.
