A BEXLEY primary school was the runner-up in a London-wide competition encouraging schools to grow their own food.
Bedonwell Infant and Nursery School in Bedonwell Road, Belvedere, took home fruit and veg packs and gardening tools prizes in the London Mayor Boris Johnson’s Capital Growth schools competition.
It entered the collect and create category which encouraged the reuse and recycling of waste items.Rosie Boycot, who was one of the judges said: “Bexley’s primary pupils, teachers and parents have done us proud.”
Mr Johnson added: “The range of imaginative ideas shown to our judges was quite astonishing.
“Bravo to these amazing young food growers in Bexley.”
