PUBLIC meetings on the future of five libraries threatened with closure will begin this week.

The libraries may be shut down by Lewisham Council as part of a £60m cuts package, much of which will be decided in November.

On July 28 at 7pm, the future of Blackheath Library will be discussed at the Leemore Centre, Clarendon Rise, Lewisham.

A meeting on the library at New Cross will be held at the Moonshot Centre in Angus Street on August 18, while Sydenham Library will be discussed at the Grove Centre, Jews Walk, on August 19.

Further meetings will discuss Crofton Park Library at St Saviours, Brockley Rise, on August 23, and Grove Park Library on August 25 at the TA Centre, Baring Road, Hither Green.
