WHEN youngster Kim Hollman joined the Cubs he was determined to outdo his older brother Guy.
But his burst of sibling rivalry has made Kim, aged 10, into one of the elite of the Cubs’ world.
Guy, now 13, had achieved 20 badges during his two years in the 4th Barnehurst (Seeonee) Pack, and Kim wanted to go one better.
In fact, he went 28 better, and has now gained every badge it is possible to achieve in the Cubs.
The Sixer from Wenvoe Avenue, Barnehurst, has a remarkable number of achievements to his name.
He has badges in first aid, knots and map reading as well as cooking.
Kim gained his model making badge helping his Six to build a go-kart.
He became Bexley mayor for five minutes and visited the Met Police Air Support Unit for his local knowledge badge.
His mum Terri, 49, said: “He has had to take up a few new sports such as horseriding and judo.”
Even when the family went on holiday to Canada, he could not resist adding another badge to his collection - getting his hobbies badge by fishing in a Canadian lake.
Kim has become a swimmer, an animal carer and a collector, a naturalist and a camper.
He completed his last badge as scientist at this year’s summer camp.
Kim now has a haul of 40 activity badges, seven challenge badges and the top Cubs’ award, the Chief Scout’s silver award.
He said: "My brother attempted to do it but he never finished so I thought I would try to beat him.
"It was very tough, but I did enjoy it."
His Pack leaders were so impressed, they have named their Cub of the Month trophy after him.
Mrs Hollman said Kim was “thrilled and very proud. He knows it is a huge achievement.”
The Bursted Wood Primary School pupil will not have long to wait until his next challenge, as he moves up to Scouts in September, where he has his sights set on more badges.
But, despite achieving his homehelp badge it was his mum who sewed them all.
