LANGLEY Park School for Girls enjoyed their most successful year on the tennis court to date by making it to the AEGON national schools tennis finals.

The team consisted of Rebecca Finch (Year 10), Siobhan Airey (Year 9), Daisy Hugkulstone (Year 8), Rebecca Scannapieco (Year 9) and reserve Jessica Tester (Year 11).

With more than 450 teams competing in 12 regions, Langley Park had to overcome Croydon High School, Sevenoaks School and St George’s College to book their place in the finals.

The national championships is an U19 competition, so Langley Park had entered a very young team.

PE teacher Jaime Neale thought it would be a good experience but the girls had other ideas and showed no fear when playing older and more experienced players.

Langley beat two out of the four rivals they faced in the finals, including a victory over number three seeds Trent College.

The Beckenham school finished seventh overall at the event and managed to take number two seeds Millfield School to a tie break, which they lost.
