A GROUP of friends is attempting to set a world record for the longest continuous journey in a fire engine.
The 24 pals, who will drive in shifts, began their journey from Greenwich's Old Royal Naval College on July 18.
Their aim is to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support, The Fire Fighters Charity and The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
Crew members include James Morrow, 32, Valerie Keith, 31, and Fuad Sulejmanovic, 28, who are all from Greenwich.
The Follow That Fire Engine crew will drive 26,000 miles, through 28 countries, over nine months, covering gruelling terrain in extreme weather conditions.
This record has never before been attempted, but Guinness World Records has confirmed it will recognise the feat.
