FOLLOWING raids on rogue traders across the borough, a council is giving advice on avoiding being conned.
Greenwich Council took part in Operation Liberal, a nationwide campaign to tackle rogue traders and doorstep criminals.
Working with police, around 40 traders were targeted and given advice on their legal obligations.
Rogue traders often prey on the elderly and vulnerable who fall victim to losing vast sums of money for work that is substandard, unnecessary and overpriced.
The council advises people to be careful about responding to flyers put through letterboxes, avoid paying cash upfront, beware of cold-callers and to get three written quotes before choosing a trader.
