A YOUTH club garden which started as a memorial to a youth worker and a teenage member has now blossomed into a fully fledged garden.
Members at Sidcup youth centre in Burnt Oak Lane, Sidcup, set up the garden in the grounds of the centre in 2008, in memory of James Herring, 16, who died in a car accident and Richard Gough, 25, who died from a muscle wasting disease.
After being given the cash, the teenagers went on to built a barbecue, then high brick-built planters so disabled members could join in the gardening.
Young people from the Howbury pupil referral unit on a bricklaying course, have helped build more planters.
Now centre members are cultivating a whole range of plants, including their own veg for cooking and eating.
