SIX young chess players have been crowned the greatest in the country.
The Eltham College under-11 chess players won the final of the English Primary Schools Chess Association national tournament in Somerset.
Their final was held over two days, with four rounds being played on day one and three rounds on day two.
Conor Murphy, Owen Messere, Alexander Selway, Arul Gupta, Thomas Morton and Rohan Rao played well throughout the tournament and won nearly all their matches.
Conor and Arul won special board prizes for winning all of their games.
Head teacher Paul Henderson said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the boys and we are incredibly proud to be able to say that we are now national chess champions.”
