Thamesmead’s over 50’s group the Pop in Parlour has received a three star food certificate from Bexley Council’s Environmental Health department, who govern who can and can’t sell food.
The Pop in Parlour’s Rendezvous Café’s star rating is based on compliance with food hygiene, compliance with food structure and confidence in management.
“We are over the moon to receive three stars” said Pop in’s volunteer Manager Johnny Thompson. “We would only be awarded five stars if we had a steel worktop and a fancy dish waster-something we will never achieve but we scored highly in competency. We are really chuffed.”
The Pop in Parlour based at Evenlode House off Harrow Manor Way is open 9:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday and is a life-line for many older people in Thamesmead. The group is run by volunteers and offers lunch at more than reasonable prices. They boast their own bowling green and run tai chi classes 10:00-11:30am every Wednesday and bowling 10:00am-12:00pm every Thursday. For more information call 020 8310 7437 or just pop in!
