A NEW hostel for homeless women in danger of falling into a life of crime is set to open later this year.
An opening date of November 2 has been set for charity North Kent Women’s Aid’s (NKWA) new hostel in Gravesend, which will provide accommodation for up to eight women.
EastEnders actress Cheryl Fergison, who was involved in a domestic abuse storyline in the BBC soap, will officially open the hostel, which has been converted from a house in the past year.
The hostel will be called Soroptimist House, as Gravesend Soroptimist Club donated the property to NKWA in July last year.
Soroptimist Isobel Kesby said: “We’re delighted the hostel will soon be opening and helping women in need in the area.”
