STUDENTS sweated it out on a 51-mile bike ride to raise money in memory of their teacher who died of cancer.
Fourteen pupils and teachers from Kemnal Technology College, Sevenoaks Way, Sidcup, took eight hours to cycle from the school to Hastings and have so far managed to raise £1,200 for Saint Francis Hospice.
The hospice in Essex cared for teacher Laura Popkin towards the end of a two-year battle with cancer, which started off in her skin before spreading throughout her lymph nodes.
Miss Popkin, who died at just 32, began her teaching career with Kemnal becoming head of drama and a deputy head who ran the college sixth form.
