A TOWN hall could be flattened as part of a radical regeneration scheme.
The proposal to demolish Lewisham’s town hall and neighbouring Laurence House in Catford, along with rerouting part of the south circular, was revealed in a council report into progress on Catford’s regeneration.
An initial phase will see the notorious Milford Towers estate knocked down, with 1,000 new homes and a redveloped shopping centre built in its place.
That initial part of the plans could potentially be completed by 2015 once more detailed proposals are considered by the council later this year.
In February, the council bought Catford Shopping Centre for £11.52m in a bid to speed up progress on the area’s regeneration.
