POLICE are appealing for information after a 44-year-old man was hit by a bus and killed.

Officers were called to Brookmill Road in Deptford at 12.40am today to reports of a road accident.

The victim was rushed to Lewisham Hospital but died an hour later.

The 43-year-old bus driver stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He is currently at a south London police station.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to any passengers on the bus at the time.
