ASPIRING dance teachers have just completed a five week free course to become accredited street dance teachers.
The dozen people who signed up for the course, ranged in age from 16 to their mid-30s and all were keen to start teaching as soon as they gained their National Association for Teachers of Dance accreditation.
Normally such a course, which lasted five weeks, would cost around £450, but Bexley Council got funding from Sport England and the Bexley Care Trust in partnership with Street Dance International to provide the teaching for free at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School in Hurst Road, Sidcup.
The aim of the project was to create career opportunities for local dance professionals and, with an increased number of teachers, provide a fun way of improving fitness in the borough.
