PEOPLE are being asked for their donations in a bid to give third world poverty the boot.

Dagenham Motors in Sidcup Road, Eltham, is collecting football boots as part of its charity drive.

The footwear will be given to the Boots for Africa charity which distributes them to poor townships in Africa.

It is also appealing for unwanted football shirts, trainers and deflated footballs.

Even single football boots are in demand by children in Sudan who have lost a foot or leg from a landmine.

Regional director Paul Canning said: “We want to do our part in helping collect football boots for some of the world’s poorest people to enjoy the beautiful game. “ For more information on the charity visit bootsforafrica.org
