A SCHOOL has been highly commended in a London-wide competition to encourage youngsters to grow their own food.
St David’s College in Beckenham Road, West Wickham, received praise for creating a garden designed to cope with climate change in the Mayor of London Boris Johnson’s Capital Growth competition.
More than 100 schools entered and St David’s College was one of 15 to make the final shortlist.
Mr Johnson said: “Bravo to these amazing young food growers.
“The range of imaginative ideas shown to our judges was quite astonishing.
“Collectively our Capital Growth schools, whether winners or not, are helping to beautify our city through a patch work of fantastic food growing plots.”
