A COLLEGE has lent a helping hand with a school's film project.

St Olave's film club recently created a series of 'mockumentaries' about their daily life.

However, the school in Goddington Lane, Orpington, does not have any editing software so the pupils were unable to complete their work.

Orpington College offered to share their resources after St Olave's parent Emma Hagestadt suggested that they worked with local schools. She said: "It was a real pleasure to see these young filmmakers finally get their hands on some state-of-the-art equipment.

“Orpington College's new campus has a really well-stocked media department, and I knew the staff there would be keen to share their resources with other young people in the area.

“When nearby schools and institutions can pool their talent and resources there are real benefits to be had all round."

With the help of the college in The Walnuts, Orpington, the students created zombie themed films.

Film club member Richard Pattinson, 14, explained: “It’s about revenge, hatred and the oppression of school boys.”

St Olave's head of English Liz Goodman said: "It was a great opportunity for students to work with people who have had real experience in the industry."

The college’s curriculum manager for visual arts and media Christine Eyers said: “Working with St Olaves School over the two days was a really exciting and a real learning experience for both students and staff.

“It was great to see so much enthusiasm from these budding filmmakers and editors and we are really pleased that the students got something worthwhile out of it.

“We look forward to working with St Olave’s in the future and strengthening our partnership links with local schools.”
