A PAIR of council Smart cars have used their CCTV cameras to get thousands of pounds in parking fines, figures show.

Bromley Council has two of the vehicles which have raised £88,655 in fines over the past year.

This was done through spotting 2,105 different offences.

Campaign group Big Brother Watch revealed the figures after making a Freedom of Information request.

Statistics show that 31 councils across the country use the cars to spot parking and traffic offences.

“It is surely only a matter of time before more councils start using these cars.”
