AN ELDERLY woman’s alarm service saved her life after a fire started in her kitchen last night (July 7).
Cooking on the stove in her home in The Drive, Orpington, caught fire at around 11.45pm and triggered her smoke detector after she had gone to sleep.
The detector sent a signal to her alarm service Carelink which then called the fire brigade.
Firefighters from Orpington woke her up and got her out of the property and put out the fire.
The pensioner, who has not been identified, did not need to be treated for smoke inhalation.
