For those of you who live in Kent, there are many ways to spend the up and coming sunny weekends.
Visiting Charles Darwin’s house in Down may not sound like the best day out, but the surrounding gardens and possible nearby walks make it and exciting, enjoyable and educational trip. If you time it right then there are many spectacular trials you can follow around the area that will deposit you in a field of poppies or on top of a hill looking down at the breathtaking landscape below.
For those of you who do not wish to spend a day out in the open, experience the antithesis by visiting Chislehurst Caves in Chislehurst. These caves have made an appearance on the BBC after the prime time television program “Merlin” was filmed there; however they have a more important part in history as they were used as air raid shelters during the War. Enjoy a day having a guided tour through the labyrinth of passageways and then have a delicious lunch in the Caves Restaurant, followed by a browse in the gift shop.
Even just finding a homely country pun where you can enjoy good food, good company and have a good time!
