PRIMARY schools without a garden are being encouraged to sign up to a nationwide gardening campaign.
The Royal Horticultural Society launches Get Your Grown-ups Growing in October and is calling on schools to get involved to teach youngsters about growing food and caring for the natural environment.
More than 2,000 schools across the south east have already joined the campaign.
The society’s acting director general, Gordon Seabright, said: “For many, school provides the only opportunity to get involved in gardening, and we want to make sure that as many schools as possible can create and maintain an exciting growing space.”
