BAGS, items of clothing and books were the most likely property to be left behind by people travelling on public transport in Bexley.
Transport for London (TfL)says more than 3,000 lost items were handed in at bus garages and railway stations in Bexley in 2009/10.
The most forgotten item was bags (505), followed by clothing (491), books (376), phones (322) and umbrellas (218).
The items end up in TfL’s Baker Street lost property office and usually take around two days to reach there after being handed in.
Its manager Julie Haley says it is always worth contacting the office to see if a lost item has been handed in.
