POLICE are appealing for information after a number of men racially abused passengers onboard a train.
The group began shouting racial abuse and singing racist songs during the incident between Clapham Junction and Crystal Palace.
British Transport Police say passengers were left “extremely intimidated and distressed”.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Tony Burman said: “Racist abuse of any sort is unacceptable, but the nature of the insults levelled at the passengers in the carriage were despicable.
“Everyone has the right to go to about their business without fear of abuse or threatening behaviour and when that behaviour is further exacerbated by racist undertones our stance becomes firmer still.”
The incident happened on the 5pm Southern service between Clapham Junction and London Bridge on May 25.
Anyone with information should call BTP on 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
