A UNIVERSITY’S plans to unite three schools have collapsed, according to a union.
Goldsmiths University had planned to create the Goldsmiths Trust, which would have united Addey and Stanhope, Deptford Green and Crossways schools.
Lewisham Council insists talks are ongoing but campaigners against the proposals - including unions, staff and parents - have claimed victory, saying staff have been informed the plan has collapsed.
Secretary of Lewisham NUT Martin Powell-Davies said: “This is tremendous news for everyone who supports comprehensive education.
"The trust was always a half-baked idea. Its supporters were never able to show how a trust would really benefit education.”
A council spokesman said: “No decision has yet been taken and negotiations are ongoing."
