CONTROVERSIAL plans to build sheltered accommodation flats on green space have been deferred again.

Sanctuary Housing Group has applied to replace the current 31-flat sheltered accommodation scheme on land between Taunton Vale and Truro Road in Gravesend with a 73-flat building.

This new building will range from two to five storeys in height and consume an extra acre of the field, and more than 150 local residents have written to Gravesham Council to oppose the plans.

On May 26 the council’s regulatory board agreed to defer a decision on the application in order for the planning department to negotiate further on the scheme with the developer. This follows the board deferring the decision at a meeting on April 14.
