A PUBLIC GARDEN has reopened as part of a scheme to improve the capital's green spaces.
Hatcham Gardens in New Cross has been revamped as part of Mayor of London Boris Johnson's Great Outdoors scheme aiming to transform London's public places.
The gardens now feature extra furniture, play equipment, a new drinking fountain, and 50 Albizia trees which create a canopy over the space.
Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock, said: "The newly designed Hatcham Park will make a big difference to the area with its new sand pit, dog walking enclosure, table tennis, chess boards and lovely green spaces for everyone in the community to enjoy."
