In this week's News Shopper Thursday Issue discussion we ask whether there should be a charge for emergency services' time and skill when people get themselves into danger. Have your say and add your comments below.

The Thursday Issue is very simple. Each week we put a controversial question or suggestion to you, and ask if you agree or disagree with it.

Here is this week's:

If it’s your fault emergency services need to be called out then you should be billed for the help. Anyone who causes an incident which could have been avoided or puts themselves in danger should be charged a ‘stupidity levy’ to cover the cost of being rescued by ambulance, fire or police. Anyone unable or refusing to pay should be made to do community work.

Now it's over to you. Most people pay taxes anyway so should there be an extra charge for self-imposed accidents or emergencies? On ther other hand, if people behave recklessly and put their own safety at risk then they should contribute towards the cost of behing helped, shouldn't they? Join the debate and tell us what you think below.
