A PRIMARY school will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a summer fair.
Hartley Primary School will entertain families with stalls, live music and refreshments on June 12 from 12pm.
The school, on Round Ash Way, Longfield, has enjoyed a long history in the community.
Founded in 1842 in Hartley Green, it specifically taught children from parents in the labouring and manufacturing industries as well as those from poorer backgrounds.
A new school was built in 1907 to accommodate the growing number of children, before moving to its present location in 1970.
In 1982 Hartley CP School became Hartley First School as a result of the reorganisation of schools in the Longfield area, taking in children from 5 to 9 years.
Further reorganisation has restored the school once more to full Primary Status.
