FUNDING is now available for the third round of London Mayor Boris Johnson’s bid to plant 10,000 new street trees in the capital by 2012.
The Mayor has named 40 priority areas, including Erith and Abbey Wood, where residents can apply to have a tree planted outside their home.
Residents can register their interest online and their details will be passed to Bexley Council who will check whether the request is practical.
People can register their interest before July 14 at london.gov.uk/streettrees
Mr Johnson is also encouraging councils, community groups and housing associations to apply for tree planting grants, so at least 3,500 trees are planted this year.
This is a separate process and to find out more, go to ltwgs.org
