AN energetic youngster has swum more than three miles in a pool to raise cash for a cancer charity.
Aged 11, Joseph Neighbour, from Eversley Avenue, Barnehurst, is becoming a veteran of the annual Swimathon in aid of Marie Cure Cancer Care, as this is the third year he has taken part.
Joseph, a pupil at Barnehurst Junior School and a member of Erith Swimming Club, did his swim at the Thamesmere Leisure Centre in Thamesmead, and took two hours, 16 minutes and 12 seconds to finish his 5,000m.
In 2008 he swam 1,500m and raised £100 and did the same last year, but this year he swam more than three times the distance and raised £200.
