A FORMER Colfe’s student has his eyes set on stardom with Arsenal after being named as a substitute by Arsene Wenger towards the end of last season.

Conor Henderson, 18, was on the Gunners’ bench for the 3-2 defeat at Wigan on April 18 and although he wasn’t used that day, the Sidcup ace is hoping he can force his way into the first team.

Henderson has been a member of Arsenal’s academy for several years but only left Colfe’s in July 2008 after successfully passing his GCSEs.

It was a memorable season for the school’s first team, who enjoyed a double cup success.

They beat City of London in the final of the London Independent Schools’ Cup and then defeated Darrick Wood 4-2 at The Valley in the Bromley U18 Schools’ Cup, a game which saw Henderson grab two first half goals.

Henderson, who can play in central midfield or as a left winger, worked his way through the age ranks at Arsenal to be offered a full-time contract at the Gunners and has already represented both England and Ireland at youth level.

Colfe’s master in charge of football Roger Dickson said: “It only remains to be seen how long we shall have to wait before Arsene Wenger gives the ex-Colfe’s pupil his inevitable full debut in the Premier League.”
