VOLUNTEERS have been getting their feet wet to tempt more wildlife back to an old pond.
Wildlife charity Froglife teamed up with Friends of Foots Cray Meadows and Bexley Council to plant more than 140 native plants in the mud and shallow water around the Old Pond in Foots Cray Meadows, Foots Cray.
It is hoped the plants will attract pond insects such as water beetles and help newts who lay their eggs on plant leaves.
The volunteers also did a pond dip and saw some of the wildlife which depends on the pond for survival.
Funded by Cory Environmental Trust, the event was part of a worldwide network to celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity.
