PUPILS have cut, glued and used sticky tape to design new play equipment.
Youngsters at Midfield Primary School in Grovelands Road, Orpington, spent two days putting together their ideas.
These included jungles, aeroplanes and boats.
The event was the brainchild headteacher, Wendy Seeley, who believes a lot of the children have forgotten how to play using their imagination.
She said: “We are noticing many of our children come into school lacking good social and communication skills.
“They find it difficult to express themselves in play because of their lack of language.”
Mrs Seeley says she believes the problem stems from children watching too much tv and playing computer games.
An artist will now incorporate the 250 children’s designs into eight new pieces of play equipment.
These are expected to be completed by September.
