A FOUNDATION has been set up in memory of a teenager who died after being run over, shot and stabbed in a gang turf war.

More than 100 people attended the Damilola Taylor Centre in Peckham for the launch of the Johnson Memorial Foundation, set up by Antoine Ndjoli.

His 19-year-old son, Johnson, died on January 5 after being attacked on April 24 last year by brothers Dwight and Derrell Callender and members of the Shower Gang.

Youngsters from Deptford took part in a football tournament for under 19’s and under 14’s during the launch.

Pupils from Crossway academy in Sprules Road, Brockley, and Bonus Pastor Catholic College in Winlaton Road, Bromley also joined in.

Mr Ndjoli said: “It went really well. I had mixed feelings because it was Johnson’s favourite sport.

“I was happy to see all the children coming together and it was good to see something positive.”

The foundation was set up for the safety and security of young people in London to prevent more youngsters being a victim to gun and knife crime.

It will also support young people who are already in gangs and offer support to victims of crime.

The 49-year-old said: “It’s important for us to educate young people and their parents. We will be working with schools, police and voluntary organisations.”

Dwight Callender, 23, of Mercator Road, Lewisham, and Derrell Callender, 20, of Leybridge Court, Eltham, jailed for 35 years each for the attempted murder of the teenager and his friend Mohammed Turay.
