Morrisons, the UK's fourth largest food retailer, helped Greenwich & Bexley Cottage Hospice staff and volunteers raise £5400 (19 to 23 May). The money was raised for the Hospice through bucket collections, a tombola and 'Go Yellow' activities in the Erith, Sidcup, Thamesmead and Welling stores.
The collections were arranged after Help the Hospices, the leading charity supporting hospice care throughout the UK, was chosen as Morrisons new Charity of the Year for 2010 / 2011. Over 400 stores have been twinned with hospices all over the UK, and Morrisons staff will be supporting hospice care by taking part in lots of fundraising activities throughout the year.
Julie Lawrie-Raison Community Fundraiser at Greenwich & Bexley Cottage Hospice said: "The support we received from Morrisons' staff and customers was fantastic. We raised a whopping £5400.39 in just five days; it's an incredible amount of money. I'm really looking forward to us working together for the rest of the campaign year."
