Buying a ‘Best Dad’ tie or pair of socks could earn some brownie points this Father’s Day, but it won’t do your dad any fashion favours.
So, if you want your dad to look stylish this Father’s Day, Greenwich Shopping Park has the best high street selection of men’s fashion must-haves, just in time for the summer.
Style: Sharp suits
Men’s fashion has been very casual in recent months, inspired by the likes of cool dad David Beckham in his trademark checked shirts, beanie hats and jeans, but now it’s time for the return of sharp and smart tailoring.
For this look, think Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl, Mark Ronson and Ben Shepard. The sharper the suit, the better!
The key to a good suit is making sure that the sleeves and trouser length are long enough and opt for a slim and well-fitted suit jacket made from quality material. We love this dark grey suit (above), £110 for the jacket and £60 for the trousers from Next, which would look great with a white, blue or light pink shirt.
Top tip: Wear with a shirt and tie for formal wear or an open collar for a more relaxed style. To add that extra sparkle, why not add a silk, coloured handkerchief to your suit pocket?
Material: Distressed denim
While ladies are rocking double denim this season, it’s all about the distressed denim look for men.
Think jeans with rips at the knees, lightly scratched or stonewash patterns.
These ripped jeans from Burton at OUTFIT, £35, are bang on trend, and would look great with a plain white tee and flip flops for a casual, summertime look.
Top tip: Wear your distressed denim jeans with a suit jacket and a pair of high top trainers, such as Nike A M Turnaround basketball trainers, £44.99, from Sports Direct.com, for a very cool look.
Accessories: The man bag
Men can be guilty of ignoring accessories, but with so many possessions to carry around these days - iPod, wallet, mobile phone, maybe even some guy-liner - the man bag is stylish and practical for men on the move.
Go for a sporty or distressed canvas style across-the-body bag if you’re after something a bit more masculine.
Confident, metro-sexual males can pull off smart, leather man bags with ease, like this one, £99, from River Island or try the men’s ranges at Next and New Look.
Top tip: The man bag will update any outfit this season, so wear it with pride! Opt for the oh-so-on-trend satchel style inspired by Mulberry’s Alexa bag or bright, bold colours. Don’t be afraid to make a statement.
Next, Burton at OUTIFT and River Island are available at Greenwich Shopping Park, off Bugsby’s Way, in Charlton. Visit greenwichshoppingpark.co.uk or follow @ShopGSP on Twitter and become a fan of Greenwich Shopping Park on Facebook for the latest fashion tips and news.
