A WANNABE pop star visited South Africa to promote his world cup football anthem which he hopes will help with future plans for charity.
DJ Talent’s song Just for You England FC is released today and if it does well he aims to help to improve the living conditions in Africa.
The former Britain’s Got Talent contestant’s plans include helping to provide fresh water, reduce leaks and damage to housing by improving buildings and sponsoring a child.
During his trip to Johannesburg, Anthony Ghosh, aka DJ Talent, stayed in huts in poverty stricken areas.
The 34-year-old, of Avenue Road, Anerley, also visited Gold Reef City; a hotel built on a former gold mine and helped look after lion cubs at Kruger National Park.
When asked what the people made of him, DJ Talent says: “They were shocked to see my gold teeth in an area where people were killed and attacked over gold but they were really friendly, they really liked me and my music.”
The trip, funded by the BBC, was something he had always wanted to do.
“As a celebrity it is about making a difference and helping people worse off than you in the world.
"People like Bob Geldof are very inspirational,” he said.
DJ Talent describes his experience as: “Fantastic.
"The people are very lovely and touching.
"They are not materialistic; they have nothing but still have smiling faces.
"I would like to spend more time with the people in Africa”
