A 58-YEAR-OLD man has avoided jail after a £32,000 benefit fraud.
Peter Brook, of Gravel Road, Bromley, defrauded the Department for Work and Pensions out of £28,408 in income support from February 2006 to September last year.
He also illegally claimed £4,319 in council tax benefit between February 2006 and December last year.
Croydon Crown Court heard he had not declared a bank account which had substantial sums paid in over a three-year period.
Brook pleaded guilty to fraud and was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months, and was also ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
Bromley Council is recovering the council tax benefit.
